East Coast & Katong

Katong, Joo Chiat and the wider East Coast are known for their Peranakan shophouses, hawker food and laid-back neighbourhood feel. The area's British-style pubs are proper locals, where residents drop in for the Wednesday quiz, a Sunday roast or a big match on the screen.

It is well worth the trip from the city centre for a more relaxed pint. The Thomson-East Coast Line now serves Katong Park and Marine Parade, and East Coast Park is close by for a walk before or after.
