The Wild Rover

The Wild Rover opened in November 2024 at the riverside end of Street 178, opposite Bodia Spa and a few minutes' walk from the Royal Palace, the National Museum and Sisowath Quay. It is a genuine Irish pub rather than an Irish-themed one: the owner and manager are long-term Phnom Penh expats from County Derry, and there is usually an Irish voice behind the bar.

It is a small, no-frills local with a proper wooden bar, barrel tables and Irish pub décor, seating around 50 inside and out. The air-conditioned bar has a big screen for the football and rugby, and the outdoor tables are a good spot to watch the street go by.

Drinks are the focus. Guinness is poured in several forms alongside Magners cider, Stella Artois and the pub's own Wild Rover Irish Red Ale, brewed under contract in Cambodia. The whiskey shelf runs to 33 Irish whiskeys, and there are Tayto crisps behind the bar. There is no kitchen, but Cambodian, Western, Thai and Vietnamese dishes are brought in from the neighbours.

Live music plays most weekends, usually from 7pm to 10pm. Open daily: Monday to Thursday 3pm to midnight, Friday and Saturday 1pm to 1am, and Sunday 1pm to midnight.
