The Rose & Crown opened in summer 2024 on Street 472, a short walk from Russian Market. Owner Joe, who spent more than a decade in Cambodia working in conservation, set it up after a trip home left him missing proper pub grub. The name is a nod to himself and his wife.
Food is the main draw. Sunday is roast day, with chicken, lamb or beef served with Yorkshire pudding, a pork and sage stuffing ball, roast potatoes, red cabbage and gravy, and the regulars say you need to book. Fish and chips is a Friday special. Behind the bar you'll find Cambodia draught on a cheap happy hour, plus craft beers and ciders.
Most people sit out in the garden under festoon lights. Inside there is a tucked-away 'Bookcase Bar' and an air-conditioned pool room. It's family-friendly and suits Toul Tom Poung's expat crowd, who come for a long lunch more than a late session.
