Tropical Murphy's Irish Pub

Tropical Murphy's has been on Chaweng Beach Road for a quarter of a century and calls itself 'the best craic on the island'. The street-facing front opens onto a busy terrace of high tables and bar stools, with a long, wood-panelled bar inside and more seating upstairs.

The draught list includes Guinness, Kilkenny and Magners alongside Leo, Singha, Tiger, Heineken, Stella Artois and Hoegaarden, sold by the half, pint or jug. The kitchen mixes Irish and British pub food with Thai and European plates: a Sunday roast with all the trimmings, shepherd's pie, ribs, loaded potato skins and club sandwiches.

Screens around the bar make it a regular spot for watching football and rugby, and there is live music. It opens from 3pm on weekdays and noon at weekends, staying open until 1am, which makes it an easy stop between the beach and Chaweng's evening crowds.
