The Sticky Wicket opened in Plaza Damansara, Bukit Damansara, in 2016 and has been one of the homes of cricket in Kuala Lumpur ever since. Its launch was marked by Sri Lankan great Aravinda de Silva, and the bare-brick walls are lined with one of the largest collections of cricket memorabilia in the city, from signed shirts and bats to gloves and caps. Brian Lara, Mahela Jayawardene and Sir Vivian Richards have all dropped in over the years.
The kitchen serves British pub favourites such as toad in the hole with Yorkshire pudding and beer-battered fish and chips, with nods to other cricketing nations like Sri Lankan kottu and South African boerewors, plus sharing plates. Draught beers, a good gin list and cricket-themed cocktails fill the bar, and there are private rooms upstairs with their own big screens for groups.
Cricket comes first, but rugby, football, Formula 1 and UFC are all shown, and the pub opens early for big fixtures. It is open from noon every day, until 1am Monday to Thursday and 2am Friday to Sunday, and Sid's Pub is a short stroll away in the same square.
