The Sportsman Pub & Restaurant

The Sportsman opened on 14 February 1997 in the Pattaya Beach Condo building on Soi 13, just off Beach Road, and has been run for more than two decades by Dave Bowers. Local guides call it a Pattaya institution, and it draws both holidaymakers and long-stay expats.

Guinness, Tiger and Heineken are on draught, with Thatchers cider too, and each weekday has a drinks or food deal, such as 99-baht Heineken pints on Mondays or burger, chips and a beer on Wednesdays. The big event is the all-you-can-eat Sunday carvery with three courses, roast meats and Yorkshire puddings.

Screens around the room carry Premier League football, Formula One, rugby, cricket, golf, boxing and tennis, and it opens early for morning races. The Thursday quiz starts at 9pm with picture, music and sport rounds and free pie and chips. Doors open at 7am for breakfast and stay open past midnight.
