The Primrose

The Primrose (Primrose Public House) opened in 2026 on a quiet residential street in Kebayoran Baru, a short walk from the bars and restaurants of Senopati. It is very much a higher-end, gastro-bar take on the English pub rather than a spit-and-sawdust local. Expect a polished room with a mounted stag's head, framed prints on panelled walls, green banker's lamps and buttoned leather banquettes, and an open kitchen with the beer taps set into its front and a long communal table.

The food is where it earns its place on this list. Beer-battered fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, Scotch eggs, a pie baked in a skillet, roast chicken and oxtail croquettes, plus the small things that make a British pub: house crisps with your first pint and a bowl of pork scratchings. Service is attentive and the staff will talk you through the menu.

Prices are at the top end for a Jakarta pub, and it is really a place to eat and drink rather than prop up the bar all night. It opens in the evenings from 5pm, Monday to Saturday, and is closed on Sundays. Tables can be booked online through TableCheck.
