The Green Man opened on 1 May 2001 and is built as a Tudor coaching house over three floors, with leaded windows, dark oak beams, terracotta floors and carved foliate heads above the bar. It stands in large grounds on Patak Road in the south of the island, with courtyards under big shade trees and a children's play area.
Guinness, Tiger and Punk IPA are on draught, backed by bottles of Fuller's ales, guest beers and Thatchers and Stowford Press ciders. The kitchen, open noon to 10pm, does home-cooked English food: sausage rolls, chicken liver pâté, macaroni cheese, a beef-and-haggis 'Scotsman' burger and more.
Every Sunday from noon there is a roast of beef, pork with crackling, half chicken or a vegetarian option, all with Yorkshire pudding and cauliflower cheese, often to live saxophone. Pub quizzes, jam nights and themed evenings such as Burns Night fill the calendar, and padel courts sit on site.
