Named after the Australian bushranger's final shoot-out, Ned Kelly's Last Stand has been pulling pints on Ashley Road in Tsim Sha Tsui since 1972, which makes it one of the oldest pubs in Hong Kong. Behind the timber-clad frontage it is dark, cosy and unpretentious, with lanterns, wooden booths and a bar covered in hand-painted beer boards.
The draught list runs to Guinness, John Smith's, Boddingtons, Carlsberg and San Miguel, with jugs available, and the kitchen keeps things simple with pub classics such as burgers and fish and chips. There is a long daily happy hour from opening until 9pm.
The big draw is the music: the house band plays trad jazz, Dixieland and blues every night from about 9.30pm, and the place has a loyal following of regulars, visitors and old Hong Kong hands. It is a short walk from Tsim Sha Tsui MTR and the Star Ferry.
