King's Belly

King's Belly is the New Territories' best-known English pub, open since March 2009 on Wan Tau Kok Lane, a few minutes' walk from Tai Po Market MTR. It is easy to miss from the main road, but once inside it is a classic local: a dark wood bar, comfy seating, sport on the screens and a friendly mix of expat regulars and locals, with the front open to the street.

The kitchen serves British pub classics such as fish and chips, steak and kidney pie and full English breakfasts, plus a Sunday and holiday roast and a popular curry menu. Taps include British ales that are hard to find in Hong Kong, alongside Guinness and cider.

It is open every day from midday until late, and it is a handy stop after a hike or ride in the New Territories.
