Angus O'Tool's has been trading in the middle of Karon for more than two decades, mixing Irish pub décor with an open, tropical layout facing Patak Road. It also runs guest rooms upstairs, and the owners pitch it as a pub for the whole family, with a children's menu and space for pets.
Guinness heads the draught list, with Chang, Heineken and Stella Artois, plus Kopparberg cider and imports such as Greene King IPA in bottle. Food runs from an all-day breakfast to pub grub, Thai plates and a board of daily chef's specials, and there is a daily happy hour.
Sport is the big draw: major fixtures go out live on two 100-inch screens and five HD televisions, and staff will stream other events on request. Opening from 10am until midnight every day makes it a reliable breakfast stop as well as a place to watch the evening kick-off.
